Azma Bukhari Warns: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Preparing for ‘May 9 Season 2’

August 5 2025  Islamabad

Senior PML-N leader and Punjab government spokesperson Azma Bukhari has strongly warned that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is allegedly preparing for a second wave of unrest similar to the events of May 9, 2023. Speaking in a revealing interview on journalist Talat Hussain’s show “Red Line with Talat,” Bukhari claimed that the government has intelligence based information about planned violence and public disorder linked to PTI’s upcoming protests.

They are mobilizing again, preparing to unleash the same destruction. But this time, we will not allow it. The state will crack down if they try to take the law into their own hands.

She claimed that rallies and processions being organized in various cities under the guise of demanding Imran Khan’s release are, in fact, part of a coordinated plan to instigate unrest, much like the violent incidents that followed the PTI chairman’s arrest last year.

According to Bukhari, PTI supporters are not just planning peaceful demonstrations but are also allegedly preparing for “sabotage and disruption”, especially in small towns and urban centers where law enforcement is relatively thinner.

Sources close to the security establishment have reportedly shared alerts suggesting that protestors may again target public buildings, law enforcement agencies, and symbolic state infrastructure, just as they did on May 9 a day many regard as one of the darkest in Pakistan’s political history.

Azma Bukhari made it clear that the state will take zero tolerance action against any individuals or groups attempting to recreate that environment.

We are watching closely. This is not politics; this is a threat to national stability. No one will be allowed to hijack peace in the name of protest

As of now, reports confirm that PTI affiliated groups have announced protests in at least five major regions, with some already taking to the streets. Flyers, social media campaigns, and calls to action are circulating, often using the banner of “freedom” or “justice for Imran Khan”, but officials fear a deeper agenda.
