A shocking revelation has emerged from Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area where a gang of underage thieves commonly referred to as the “Child Gang” was caught red-handed stealing valuable construction materials from a site near Al-Manal Towers, adjacent to Munawwar Chowrangi.
The gang was captured by local residents who had, out of sheer desperation, established their own night patrol system after repeated incidents of theft from ongoing construction sites. Upon questioning, the minors made startling confessions, naming scrap dealers Aamir, Mithal, and others as buyers of stolen goods.
According to the minors, they used to sell stolen items like iron rods, copper wiring, and tools in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Johar and Shahrah-e-Faisal police stations. They revealed that several scrap dealers not only buy from them but also purchase stolen goods from drug addicts often providing them with shelter in exchange.
In a disturbing twist the minors further alleged that if drug addicts or thieves were ever handed over to the police the police would call in the scrap dealers and quietly return the culprits along with the stolen items. These allegations point towards a troubling alliance between criminal elements and some members of the local police force
systemic corruption, and police negligence, forcing them to fend for their own safety.
This incident sheds light on how crime, poverty, and police corruption are interlinked with children being pushed into crime
Authorities have yet to comment on the allegations, but the community demands an impartial investigation and strict action against both corrupt police officials and scrap dealers involved in the racket
