On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Central District, Mr. Taha Saleem, a special tree plantation campaign was officially launched in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations. The campaign was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I (ADC-I), Mr. Asim Abbasi, in collaboration with Saylani Welfare Trust.
The launch ceremony took place in Noorani Park, Block 20, Gulberg Subdivision, where saplings were planted to inaugurate the drive. The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Gulberg, Municipal Commissioner, Director Parks, officials from the Forest Department, and other senior officers.
ADC-I Asim Abbasi emphasized the significance of tree plantation, stating that the campaign would continue robustly as part of the broader Independence Day celebration initiative titled “Muark-e-Haq Azadi Campaign.”
He highlighted the countless benefits of planting trees, such as improving environmental conditions, balancing the climate, and offering economic advantages. “Trees provide oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, and help reduce temperatures,” he explained. “They also play a crucial role in fulfilling our nutritional needs, as many fruits we consume are gifts of these trees.”
A special prayer was offered at the event for the security of Pakistan and to honor the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The campaign aims to bring visible change in the environment of Karachi and foster a sense of civic responsibility among citizens. The focal person for the Deputy Commissioner Central Mr. Tauqeer Ahmed, coordinated the event.
